A place of silence and magic, surrounded by enchanting landscapes which bewitched the most illustrious families of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany: Piccolomini, Tempi, Ricasoli.
A place which, restored in its essential architectonic components, has kept the deep connection which unites this land with the people who live and cultivate it intact. A connection made superbly by the extraordinary quality of the wines which are produced around the Rocca, one of the most important areas for the wonderful Chianti Classico.
The accommodation at the Rocca di Castagnoli consists of 6 rooms offering traditional bed&breakfast formula and 7 apartments for those who wish to reside a little longer.
Each room, simply furnished and with pieces of antiquity in vernacular Tuscan style, carries the name of ancient Tuscan professions: cooper, tiler, miller, blacksmith, rope-maker, cart-wright.
Each spacious apartment, suited to 2 to 4 people (or 4 adults and 2 children), is often equipped with the most domestic furniture such as sofas and desks and carries the name of the last inhabitants (mostly female) who resided at the fortress before it was renovated. Giseldina, La Mazzina, Filomena, Caterina, Giulia, Cesira, Il Lungo.
The feather in the cap of the catering activity of Agriturismo is the Osteria al Ponte of Gajole in Chianti, a charming inn with an old style ambience, a short distance from the Sienese settlement of Rocca di Castagnoli, known for its bucolic and exclusive atmosphere.
In a former mill that has undergone renovation, with an external seating capacity for 70 in a delightful and luxurious veranda surrounded by lemon trees, and an internal seating capacity for 35 in two rooms with characteristic elegant furnishings, it is possible to savour the best cuisine of Tuscan tradition, orchestrated with great passion by Antonio Cabizza, the manager assisted by Arjan Celia, a chef who boasts varied and important experiences in the Sienese catering trade.
