A region with a big heart. Green region, heart of Italy, land of Saint Francis. These are some of the names Umbria is often called. It is undoubtedly green, and it has a heart not only in its position, being the only region in central Italy not to be bathed by the sea, but also and above all in its ability to excite.
Art and spirituality. Perugia is a vibrant and lively cultural center that alternates music and chocolate in its world-famous events. Orvieto is a medieval jewel, defined as the "terrace over Umbria". But there are also Assisi and Gubbio: the grandiose basilica in the center of Assisi is the true spiritual heart of the region that attracts thousands of visitors every year, without losing its intimate and religious dimension.
Landscapes and flavors. In addition to the other lesser-known cities, medieval jewels that stand out among the woods, tuff walls and wheat fields, Umbria is a true paradise for those who love being outdoors. Among caves, imposing waterfalls (those of Marmore are among the highest in Europe), waterways and paths, not only the spirit, but also the body feels refreshed, even more so if accompanied by one of the local specialties born from the ancient art of charcuterie and an excellent glass of Sagrantino.
1 dayGubbio - Perugia
We leave in the morning from the chosen location towards Umbria, stopping for lunch at a restaurant along the way. We arrive in Gubbio, one of the oldest cities in the region. With the guide we visit its historic center, a true masterpiece of medieval civilization and 13th-14th century society, in which the Palazzo Pretorio, the Cathedral and Piazza Quaranta Martiri stand out. In the late afternoon we reach Perugia, where dinner awaits us.
2 dayOrvieto - Todi
In the morning we leave for Orvieto, where we visit with the guide this splendid city located on a tuff hill guarding the Tiber Valley and known above all for its splendid Gothic cathedral. We have some free time for lunch before moving to Todi, a small medieval jewel defined as the "terrace over Umbria". Here we walk with the guide through the alleys of the historic center. We return to Perugia, where dinner is included.
3 dayPerugia - Assisi - Perugia
4 daySpello - Spoleto - Marmore Falls
We arrive in Spello and take a short walk through this village that preserves Roman and Renaissance remains, before continuing to Spoleto, where we visit the historic center together with the guide. Nestled on the Sant'Elia hill, at the foot of the sacred forest of Monteluco, it is a city rich in art and today the protagonist of prestigious events, such as the Festival dei Due Mondi. After lunch at an agritourism company we head towards the majestic Marmore Falls, among the highest in Europe, formed by the Velino river that flows into the Nera river, with three powerful jumps that cover a total difference in height of over 160 meters. We return to the hotel for the farewell dinner.
